Hubby's Birthday Card and a Small Note!

Hi Everyone!

So my hubby's birthday was today (Monday) and he is a major sports buff! I wanted to make him a sort of custom card because I could not find anything on the carts that I LOVED for him! So this is what I came up with.. What do you think?

I think it turned out soooo stinkin adorable!! He LOVED it! The football is from Everyday Paper Dolls and the hat is from Create A Critter. Hope you like it and I promise to be back tomorrow with a video!

Now for my little note: I have gotten some comments and emails regarding the Cricut Circle and Lite Carts. All I have to say is that we all really don't need everything. I will not buy a cartridge unless I know for a fact I will use it all the time. It's just a promise I made too myself. I do not believe that your talents are measured by the amount of carts that you have. I have seen some AMAZING work from people who only own a few carts. I purchased Hoot N Holler only because of my CRAZY obsession with Owls! I probably will not purchase any of the others only because I can't afford them all. It's human to want them... I have been maintaining my crafting addiction solely on my Etsy shop for a few months now. I save up as much as possible until I have enough to buy what I want. So I guess all I wanted to say was please do not get discouraged because you can't afford all the new things that come out. I own a baby bug and use design studio because I don't have a Gyspsy. I could not be happier and I will continue to make projects and videos for you! Do I want an expression? Absolutely, and when the time comes I will have one.

Much love to all of you!

First, let me say how totally adorable your card is! That's one of the awsome things about what us crafters do, if we can't find what we want we make it! I also wanted to comment on your little note. I totally agree. With all these new carts coming out, who doesn't want the new and shiny?? I think its great that as popular as you are, you do what you do with a baby bug and DS. That totally shows that it's not what you have, it's what you do with it. Thanks for doing supporting all of us crafters :)

Adorable football card! I hope you had fun celebrating with your husband. Very well said on the new cartridges. I know when I started I wanted them left and right, but now it's just if I see one I really really want that I'll use a lot like you said and that has a bunch of images that don't seem to be the same as other cartridges (some of recent sure seem to be awfully similar). Too many can be bad too, it's overwhelming and then you get hung up on what to make as there's too many choices. :)

I love the card! We are football nuts in our house. And thank you for your comments regarding the recent cricut news. I totally agree. I too only have a small one, the create. And like you, I'd like and expression too, but it will have to wait. I love your style and look forward to see what you have to share. Thank you for sharing and inspiring :)

I love your card. How cute and how creative. I want to comment on your note. I want it all too but I can't afford it. I only have a few cart's. If they are on sale cheap enough, i might buy one, and, like you, only if I know i will use it.
I need a decent camera so I can post my creations on my blog...lol
hugs 2 u!

Hi! Happy Bday to your hubby! Mine was on Sunday (13). Loving the card and we LOVVVEEE football in this house. Not a good thing sometimes :)

I agree w the cartridges, I have 12 (thats including the 2 that came w the machine). I only buy the ones that I realllyyyyy like. I do the same w pattern paper. I love a bunch of lines but I only stick to the ones that are easy for me to work with. For ex. I love Basic Grey but I hardly ever buy 12x12 anymore because I discovered that they were not easy for me to use so I buy the 6x6 paper pad because to me is so much easier to make layouts that way ( I do 8x5x11 80% of the time). I am a sucker for Ki Memories too.

Cant wait to see the video :)
Hugs :)

This card is adorable. Love that face on the football. Your note was very well put...it is easy to get caught up in all these new releases and really want to buy everything Provocraft is putting out. I alway buy from ebay and some of the online retailers that so that I an get my carts. for $40 or less.

I totally agree with your sentiments. I did go a bit crazy when I first got my Expressions - and I did get a Gypsy when I was in US in March - but only because it was on special and with the exchange rate, it worked out good value. I got an email this morning to join the Circle but I won't. There aren't any carts that I currently WANT. and like you, I sell my cards and then save that money to get something I want later on.

Keep up the great work on your videos - they really inspire me!

Hi Momo, I coudn't have said it any better than you. I feel the same way we all get overwhelmed. They are always comming out with new cartridges I finally decided I'm not buying any for a while even though there are still a few out there I want but I need to use what I have first. There are still so many cuts that I haven't even used yet out of all my cartridges so I don't need any more for a while. Thank you for your thoughts on that I'm glad I'm not alone. Kelly

Love the card Mari! Thank you too for the words of encouragement regarding cartridge restraint. It is so hard when I see so many bloggers make such wonderful cards I just want to get them all ;-)

I totally agree with you Momo!!! its insane! I think provo craft is getting carried away with all these new carts... I for one like some of the carts but won't buy one unless i win one! I most certainly buy the Toy Story cart because i freaking HEART JESSIE! LOL

Provo craft is justing making wayy too hard for us low budget crafters. I'm with ya on the gypsy too! DS is for me!! all i do is try to win a gypsy! LOL

I'm a freebie kind of girl! I don't even pay full price for the clothes i buy myself.. clearance rack! LOL

Love all your vids!!!

I completely agree with u on your phylosophy of crafting. I too, would luv to own everything to do with cricut, but times are tough and one quickly realizes that you really can make due with what you have. Anyway, if you really look thru your cartridges, many on the images repeat.....Thanks for all you do.

Hi Momo! Super adorable card...making a mental note to keep that one in mind for the future ;)

I agree with what you had to say about carts and circle! I won't be joining cricut circle either. I'm sure we could all spend thousands upons thousands of dollars on this wonderful stuff, but ya gotta draw the line somewhere! Love what ya do, keep on craftin'!!

Cute card!!! I know he loved it. Happy Birthday to your hubby.

I agree with everything that you say. Things are tight right now so I am only buying stuff that I absoultly need. If I see a cartridge and it is on major sale I might buy it, but I have to know that I will really use it.

I am not joining the circle because it is too expensive and I don't know what cartridges you will get and I might not ever use them. I also figure they will be on ebay one day for cheap.

I have the bug and DS. I have asked Santa for the expression and if he gets it for me I will be thrilled, but if not my little bug is great.

Thank you for all that you do!

Rock On Girlfriend! I love the card you designed for your hubby - but I equally LOVE LOVE LOVE your ending comment. I would encourage all your viewers to not be sucked into the "I gotta have it" tunnel. We don't need to buy every new thing that comes out on the market and really need to learn to use what it is we already have before we JUMP. Thanks for reminding us to be true to our craft.

You have an amazing talent and an even more amazing attitude!! I knew I loved you and your blog for a reason....you're a "real" person with a very down-to-earth attitude and I agree with you 1000%.

Keep up the great work. I look forward to your posts everyday. You just moved to the TOP of my list!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

Much love,

Hi Momo what a great idea for a man card! I love it! I agree with you regarding the cricut carts. At the beginning I went crazy buying all these carts and now I probably only use bet. 3 and 4. I spent so much money and it really hurts now to see everything I have and don't use! :( Thank you for your words.

Quilled Hugs,

First of all you card is wonderful! Such a creative idea :) Second, I also agree with the whole getting caught up in the cartridge buzz and wanting everything. When I see one I might want I write it down and then I begin the waiting game. I watch online and see what people are making with those cartridges and more often then not once the impulse buying period has ended and I have time to think and see different cuts I realize the cartridges are not all I thought they were and mark them off my list. If one stays on there long enough and I see it on a good deal then I purchase it. I just bought my create a critter less then a month ago, way behind everyone else but at the right time for me!

Cute, cute, cute card! Did you hand cut the football?

I totally agree with you! I like a couple of new carts but I won't be buying them until I can get them for under $30 - that is my limit for carts. I think that I have 4-5(out of 24) that I paid more for (still less than $40) but the rest are under $30. I am always saying that I have soooo much stuff I never use - it would be crazy to keep buying more! LOL

Love the card. Clever and adorable. Glad your hubby liked it.

I have to say I agree with you we don't NEED anything. I too use the smaller Cricut (Personal Cutter) and I only have 5 carts and if I'm being honest I have all I need in just those 3 carts. I have also only bought my carts when they are on sale (who can afford $90/cart?) and it takes me a very long time to decide which one to buy. I want (got) to have the biggest bang for my buck.

Love your cards please keep sharing.

Happy birthday with your hubby!! Hope you had a wonderful day!
And ... I agree with all you wrote. I'm also someone who wants it all: spending more time on searching new items than making projects and spending too much money! I will keep your comment in mind next time I WANT to have it .... Bye! Hugs Anne-Marie

I love your card. You are so talented. Your note was RIGHT ON! I have a friend that I actually make thur your swap. She has been wanting to purchase Create a Critter. My husband bought it for me last week. I emailed her and asked if she had been able to get it yet. She has not. I going to make her a different variety of cuts. I would love to have hoot and hollar...I just can't do it right now. I will get it when the time is right. We all need to stick together:) Would you be willing to share cuts with me? I can send you a list of what I have. Maybe you and I could share. Let me know. Mollie L (annaandjuliesmommie@hotmail.com)

Love the card!! What stamp set did you use for the eyes? I bet your hubby loved the card!!
Thanks for sharing your mind!! You have probably brought a lot of peace to people who were getting caught up in the hub bub of it all:-) You have the ability to influence many and it is nice to see it done in such a positive way!!
I should print out your little note for days I am having "cricut envy"

Hi Momo ! I'm sure your hubby flipped for this card, because I sure did ! All the guys in my family would have loved it !
I am so glad you addressed this because I do feel that there is a lot of pressure out there to get everything and you're right, we don't NEED everything! I waited 18 months to get my expression and about another 18 months to get my gyspy and I am very picky about the carts I do get, thus I have very few. I never feel like I'm stumped for creativity just because I don't have this or that cart :) In fact I sort of like it cause it challenges me to figure it out with what I do have.
I really appreciate your friendly down to earth approach to your craft. I know it might sound weird, but I always get a good feeling when I visit your blog :)I'm so glad I found it ! :)

It has all been said, but I wanted to add my thanks, for you open, honest and sharing spirit. I seriously feel like I'm hanging with a like minded (although far more creative ;) ) friend when I visit your blog! I adore your projects, your style and all of the wonderfulness and others I have found here! It is so easy to get caught up in the freenzy, I honestly smiled the first time I heard you talk about only buying carts you "knew" you would use and love, how refreshing!! Thanks Momo, you're the best! Andrea
