Dia De Los Muertos/Celebration of Life Blog Hop!

Hello Everyone!!! So today I am participating in a Blog Hop hosted by two very talented ladies Abby and Gaby! You should get started over at Abby's Blog. CLICK HERE to hop over and start from the beginning! For those of you that are not sure what "El Dia de los Muertos" means here is a good definition that Abby shared with us:

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and other countries. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration occurs on November 1 and 2. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. The Day of the Dead is a time of celebration. (http://www.wikipedia.org/)

We were asked to make something in remembrance of someone that has passed in our life. I chose to remember my Great Grandmother. I was truly blessed in my life to have a Great-Grandmother for 20 yrs of my life. Her nickname was "Tita" and the one thing that I will never forget about her is that she was always smiling! She was always happy and carefree!

For today's project I decided to make a frame with a photo of me and my "Tita" so that I can keep in my craft room and know that she is always with me! I wanted to use subtle, classy papers as my Great-Grandmother was a very Catholic, Old-Fashioned, and Feminine woman. I thought the flowers were perfect and the pinks and greens remind me of her. This photo was on the day of my baptism which is such an important moment in the Catholic Religion. I hope you guys enjoy the project!

Te Quiero Tita!

Frame: $1 Frame from Michael's
Paper: K&Company
Trim: RAK from Becky
Set of 3 Flowers: RAK from Becky
Large Flower on Top Left: RAK from Brigitte
Font: Gypsy Font

Thank you for stopping by!!! I am going to be giving away a Scrappy Mom Stamp of your choice! Just leave me a comment on this post for a chance to win! Winner will be chosen 11/3/2010.
